Thanks to the initiative and effort, mainly from the community, scientists, academics, civil organizations and municipal, state and federal governments, a marine reserve of 7,111 hectares was created in Cabo Pulmo on June 6, 1995, with the category of National Park. The protection and recovery of the marine community and the reef has allowed the return of migratory species such as the whale shark, giant blankets, humpback whales, sea turtles and sharks.
Cabo Pulmo Divers opened its doors in 1990, becoming the first dive center in Cabo Pulmo, being a 100% local company.
Cabo Pulmo Divers arises at the initiative of its Founder Mario Castro Lucero with the intention of carrying out a sustainable activity, changing fishing nets for ecotourism, thus implementing autonomous diving as a main economic activity. That is why the Founder made the decision to emigrate to Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo to train and bring an alternative to his family, sharing this knowledge mainly with his brothers, to later transmit it to their children, cousins and nephews for all take advantage of the resources that the now Protected Natural Area offers them.
